Bible Seminar—The Bible is Fact

What kind of book is the Holy Bible? Is it merely a historical record of the Israelites or a book written by God? The Bible begins with God’s creation of the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Through this, we can understand that God definitely exists and He is the creator. However, on what basis should we believe the Bible? Guests, family members, and friends were invited to the Bible Seminar entitled “The Bible is Fact” held on Dec 10, 2017, to find out the answer.

The Bible Seminar began with an introduction video of the World Mission Society Church of God, after which the much-anticipated seminar started with scientific evidence from the Bible. Which came first—science or God? If science came first, it must be able to explain about God. However, as of now, no amount of science is able to explain about God. The Bible, however, contains scientific records.

Job 26:7  He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.

Job was a prophet who lived around 3,500 years ago. During the bronze age, there was no scientific knowledge nor technology. However, Job was able to explain that the earth suspends in space and the water cycle accurately. Isaac Newton only discovered the Law of Universal Gravitation during the 17th century. Thus, the Bible contains scientific records as it contains the word of the Creator, God.

Daniel 8:20-22  The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia. The shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between its eyes is the first king. The four horns that replaced the one that was broken off represent four kingdoms that will emerge from his nation but will not have the same power.

The presenters also explained about the historical records in the Bible. One of them is the vision of the prophet, Daniel. When Daniel was in Babylon, he received prophecies of the two kingdoms — Media and Persia that will appear on the earth. It was also prophesied that Greece will be divided into four kingdoms after the death of the first king. Indeed, after the death of Alexander the Great, the empire was divided among Cassander, Ptolemy, Lysimachus and Seleucus. Many were surprised to find out that the prophecies in the Bible were fulfilled exactly as they were written.

The Bible contains much more scientific evidence and prophesies to let us know that the Bible is fact. From the viewpoint of science and the fulfillment of prophecies, we can ascertain that the Bible is trustworthy. The Bible ends with the prophecy about the future of mankind, stating the creation of a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:4). To lead us to this everlasting world, God has given us the Holy Bible.
