Fuji Hill Park Clean-Up Supports PHC Cleanliness Champions Relay

On 3 May 2026, ASEZ WAO volunteers gathered at Fuji Hill Park, Bukit Batok for The 9386th Worldwide Cleanup Campaign Green Earth. Organised together with the Bukit Batok Residents’ Network, the clean-up brought together youth volunteers, families, and community members for a meaningful morning of action and teamwork.

The initiative was also held in support of the Public Hygiene Council’s 15th Anniversary Cleanliness Champions Relay — a nationwide initiative encouraging communities across Singapore to take greater ownership of shared public spaces through collective clean-up efforts.

Throughout the activity, volunteers worked together to clear litter from walkways, railings, and hidden corners around the park that are often overlooked in daily life. While some pieces of litter were small and easily missed, the clean-up showed how these hidden waste areas can quietly build up over time if left unattended.

By the end of the activity, volunteers collected approximately 37kg of general waste and 3.9kg of plastic waste. Beyond the environmental impact, the atmosphere on the ground was lively and encouraging, with conversations flowing naturally as volunteers supported one another throughout the clean-up. Several families and first-time volunteers also joined the activity, making the event especially meaningful for many participants.

As part of ASEZ WAO’s ongoing Green Earth campaign, volunteers also introduced the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encouraging greater awareness of how small, consistent actions can contribute to a larger global movement for sustainability. While the clean-up took place locally in Bukit Batok, it reflected ASEZ WAO’s wider efforts around the world to work together with communities in promoting environmental responsibility.

More than just collecting litter, the activity was a reminder that caring for the environment begins with everyday actions and shared responsibility. Through simple acts of service, volunteers helped create not only a cleaner park, but also stronger community connections and positive habits for the future.

ASEZ WAO looks forward to continuing its collaboration with community partners and supporting future initiatives that inspire cleaner, greener, and more caring neighbourhoods across Singapore.
