Passover: The Way to Eternal Life

Life is Precious

Life is precious. With life, comes vitality, hope, dreams, love… and even if we think we have not achieved any of these, at least we have chance. Without life, we are only left with gloom, despair, parting, and lastly, regret.

Throughout the ages, we have seen men in the long-standing pursuit of a long life. Even though the process of extending life may be painful, they still greatly desire it. However, till date, even the most powerful people can only tremble in the face of death. Then, is there no way to live forever?

Eat My Flesh and Drink My Blood

John 10:10 … I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

About 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to give mankind eternal life. Then how will God grant this promise to us?

John 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Jesus told us to eat His flesh and to drink his blood in order to receive eternal life. Since He also emphasized that unless we do this, we have no life, this means that eating His flesh and drinking His blood is a sure route we must take to live forever. Then, how are we able to do this?

Matthew 26:17-19 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”…My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

Matthew 26:26-28 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

The way to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood is by celebrating the Passover of the New Covenant (Luke 22:7-20).

The Passover bread symbolizes His flesh, and the Passover wine, His blood. According to His promise, when we keep the Passover, we will be blessed with eternal life.

Living Eternally in a Beautiful Place

The Bible describes the place where we will live forever—it is the kingdom of heaven.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

On this earth, there is no perfect happiness. Even so, people greatly desire to live a long life.

What if we can not only live forever but also enjoy perfect happiness in eternity? How wonderful will that be?

Such blessings are given to those who have no more death, in other words, made immortal through the power of the Passover.

Since life is precious, the Passover is precious. Furthermore, this is not the only blessing promised through the Passover. Let us continue to understand about them one by one.
