The Trinity: God the Father and God the Son

October 29, 2016

Is Jesus lower than God the Father because He came as the son? Are God the Father and God the Son one and the same God? Are they one entity or two different Gods? Let us examine this through the Bible.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

When we look in the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah prophesied that a child (a son) would be born. Many Christians agree that this is a prophecy about Jesus. However when we examine this passage carefully, what were Jesus’ titles? He was called Mighty God and Everlasting Father. Thus, this was a prophecy that God the Father, Jehovah would be born on this earth as a man in a flesh. Although Jesus was born in the flesh, He is in very nature God the Father, Jehovah.

Jesus’ disciples understood this very clearly and boldly testified in their letters.

Romans 9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of the Messiah, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

Philippians 2:5-6 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

In the New Testament, Jesus’ disciples explained that God (referring to God the Father, Jehovah) and the Messiah (Christ) Jesus are one and the same. The disciples understood that although Jesus looked like a normal man with the appearance like that of theirs, He is actually God the Father, Jehovah in very nature. Therefore God the Father, Jehovah and God the Son, Jesus are one and the same God.

Let us also confirm this through a couple of mated verses.

Isaiah 44:24 “This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the Lord, the Maker of all things, who stretches out the heavens, who spreads out the earth by myself,

Colossians 1:16-18 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead [Jesus], so that in everything he might have the supremacy.

In the Old Testament, God the Father, Jehovah declared that He had created all things; however, in the New Testament, it was written Jesus, the firstborn from among the dead, too was the Creator. If They had been two different entities, there would be two Earths today. Then, to which Earth do you belong? Jesus’ or Jehovah’s? We know there is only one planet Earth today, then how can this be possible, unless God the Father, Jehovah and God the Son, Jesus are one and the same God.

Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 22:13-16 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End…
I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches…

In a vision given to the Disciple John, God the Father, Jehovah declared that He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. However, in the same book of Revelation, he recorded that God the Son, Jesus too is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. If They had been two different entities, how could the Son have the same beginning as His Father, even if they can have the same end?

In conclusion, the biblical scriptures clearly testify that God the Father, Jehovah and God the Son, Jesus are one and the same God, not two different Gods. They exist as one entity, not two.
