This theory states that gravitational force is always attractive and depends on the masses involved and the distance between them. Every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force along an imaginary line between them. The Earth is held in space by the gravitational forces of other planetary bodies around it; thus, it is suspended in space. Nevertheless, Job’s record in the Bible stated that the Earth is hanging upon nothing, surprisingly recorded more than 3,000 years before this was discovered through the laws of science.

In ancient times, 3,500 years ago, the Babylonians imagined the Earth as a flat disk floating on water. The Egyptians believed that the world rested on the belly of a goddess. The Sumerians thought the universe consisted only of heaven and Earth, with heaven appearing as a round dome above and Earth as a flat disk floating on the sea. This is similar to the ancient Chinese concept of the universe, where heaven looked like a dome and Earth was a flat, stable platform.

Bible Describes the Water Cycle

Next, let’s look at the fact that water goes through the hydrological cycle and when the Bible recorded it. The hydrological cycle is the continuous movement of water within the Earth and its atmosphere.

Job 36:27-28 He draws up the drops of water which distill as rain to the streams, the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on, it is describes exactly how rainfall is the cycle of water, evaporating and condensing into small droplets that from clouds and then rain down.

In Job’s time, 3,500 years ago, no one knew about the water cycle. In traditional Chinese culture of that time, myths were used to explained seasonal rains as the acts of the deities. This was also similar in the culture of the ancient Greeks, who associated water with various deities.

These ancient cultures illustrate how people thought rain came about. Contrastingly, the Bible specifically describes the movement of water in the hydrological cycle. In fact, these biblical records are only a fraction of the amazing facts contained in the Bible.

The Bible is not only the account of prophets but also a remarkable source of factual information that aligns with modern scientific understanding. The examples of the Earth’s suspension in space and the hydrological cycle shows how biblical verses predate scientific discoveries by thousands of years. While other ancient cultures relied on mythology to explain natural phenomena, the Bible provides insights into these processes. This was only possible because the Bible contains the word of God, the Creator.
