Understand

How can we truly understand others and live in harmony with everyone? ‘Understand’ is a combination of the words ‘under’ and ‘stand’. When we stand under someone, we come to look up to and respect them. To truly understand others, we have to consider others better than ourselves.
Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
On the contrary, if we stand over others, thinking that we are better than them, we cannot understand them. Then, how can we become one? We may even come to look down on others, hurting others without even knowing it.
Thus, only when we are humble, can we understand all things and give love to everyone. In such a place, everyone will serve and sacrifice for one another.
Humility—a trait God’s children must have
Colossians 3:12-14 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, … clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another … Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
As the children of God, we must embrace compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. To have humility in us, we should lower ourselves. Let us remember that God Most High came as the “One who serves”, and made all His efforts to save us, taking the nature of a servant. Following the example of God, let us always respect and serve others with a humble heart.
