Who Will be Considered the Greatest?

When Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was coronated as the King of Bhutan, he said, “Throughout my reign I will never rule you as a King. I will protect you as a parent, care for you as a brother and serve you as a son. I shall give you everything and keep nothing; I shall live such a life as a good human being that you may find it worthy to serve as an example for your children; I have no personal goals other than to fulfill your hopes and aspirations. I shall always serve you, day and night, in the spirit of kindness, justice and equality. “
With such words of humility, he won the hearts of his nation. Then in the eyes of God, who is considered to be the greatest?
Luke 22:25-26 Jesus said to them, “… the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
Jesus taught that those who serve are the greatest. God wants us to be a royal priesthood of heaven (1 Peter 2:9). Thus, while on this earth, let us resemble God’s holiness through self-sacrificing love, serving one another wholeheartedly.
Matthew 23:11-12 The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
Wouldn’t it be far better for us to humble ourselves and serve others on this earth and become a royal priesthood in heaven eternally than to be served temporarily and become the lowest in heaven? King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck set himself apart from the other monarchs through his humility to serve the nation. Likewise, God sets apart those who serve others with humility, allowing them to become the greatest in heaven.
